    Itinerary

    Day 1Arrive at Kochi, evening Kathakali dance performance

    Arrive at the International Airport of Kochi. A KVT representative will meet you at the airport and assist you to the vehicle. Later you will be transferred to the hotel. Kochi – also known as the “Queen of Arabian Sea”, is one of the finest natural and major harbor city of Kerala and it has a cosmopolitan culture highly influenced by historical trading partners. In the evening we watch live Kathakali dance performance – the traditional dance form of Kerala. We also get an opportunity to watch the artists apply their makeup. (Meals: Nil)  

    Day 2Kochi - Visit Kodanad elephant training center, afternoon sightseeing

    After breakfast we visit the Kodanad Elephant Training Centre where we have an opportunity to get up close with these majestic creatures while learning about their conservation and the traditional practices of elephant management. Afternoon we return to the city and proceed for the sightseeing to visit Dutch Palace – built by the Portuguese and presented to Raja Veera Kerala Varma of Kochi, the Palace was later renovated by the Dutch (closed on Friday), Jewish Synagogue – the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations (closed on Friday & Saturday) & St. Francis Church – one of the oldest churches in India built by Europeans. Walk through Fort Kochi and see Chinese Fishing Nets – a unique cantilever fishing technique. (Meals: Breakfast)

    Day 3Drive to Mancombu, afternoon cycling & shikara ride

    After breakfast we drive towards the backwater areas of Kerala. Upon arrival at Mancombu, we will check in to a homestay. Afternoon we will participate in a Rural Cycling trip riding through the village roads passing the paddy fields and narrow and learn about the daily life of the people. Later we will enjoy a Shikara ride sailing on the narrow canals flowing through paddy fields and rows of coconut trees both sides. (Meals: Breakfast & dinner)

    Day 4Drive to Thekkady, Spice Plantation visit, Cooking demo with dinner

    This day we start driving to Thekkady leaving the backwaters and enter into the Western Ghats. Thekkady is the home to Periyar National Park – a protected area and notable as an Elephant reserve. upon arrival we will check in to the hotel. In the afternoon we visit to the spice garden. To finish the day, you will be welcomed into a family home for a special cooking demonstration and dinner. (Meals: Breakfast & dinner) 

    Day 5Explore Periyar National Park by walk and boat safari

    Today we spend the early morning for a jungle walk into the national park and later after breakfast we have free time for optional activities such as Ayurvedic massage, Kathakali dance show. Late afternoon we take a boat safari in Periyar national park at Periyar Lake to see the wild life such as wild elephant, chital and sambar deer, wild boar, and lots of bird species. Evening is free for us to explore on our own. (Meals: Breakfast)

    Day 6Drive to Alleppey, board Houseboat

    This day we drive to Alleppey, a backwater heaven interlocked with lakes and canals. The network of canals is used for inland navigation. A vast stretch of paddy fields make this place as the rice bowl of Kerala. Apart from rice production the coir making and boat building is a thriving industry in this area. Houseboat or a Backwater Cruise along the palm fringed waterways of Alleppey is the most exciting holiday experience. Reach there and board the traditional houseboat and enjoy the backwaters. (Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner)

    Day 7Drive to Mararikulam & relax

    After breakfast we de-board the houseboat and drive to the beach resort of Mararikulam, a serene coastal village celebrated for its pristine beaches and laid-back atmosphere. upon arrival check in to the homestay. Rest of the day relax by the Arabian Sea, indulge in fresh seafood, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings. (Meals: Breakfast)

    Day 8Departure from Kochi

    This day we will be transferred to the Kochi International airport to catch the flight for back home. (Meals: Breakfast)
